Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI)
The SIPRI Arms Transfers Database has been updated and now includes information
on all international transfers of major conventional weapons from 1950 to the
end of 2007. According to the newly released data, there was an 8 per cent fall
in international transfers of major conventional weapons between 2006 and 2007.
However, significant new orders in 2007, particularly in the Middle East, South
Asia and South East Asia indicate that the overall rise in arms transfers since
2000 is likely to continue.

Arms Sales Monitoring Project
The Arms Sales Monitoring Project (ASMP) seeks to increase transparency,
accountability and restraint in U.S. arms exports; broaden the coalition of
citizens working to strengthen arms export controls; and to serve as a
repository of data on U.S. arms transfers and arms export controls.
For the past decade, we have reported on the U.S. government's arms export
policies and practices through the publication of reports and articles, media
outreach, and public speaking. Our objective is to get information out to
interested journalists, policy makers, and the general public so that many
people can act, achieving much more than we alone can.
